By-Law Change Summary

Divides membership into categories: Active Members; Associate Members and Student Members. Only Active and Senior Associate Members can vote.
Adds a provision allowing Executive Committee (EC) to set dues each year.
Limits dues for non-voting categories to a maximum of 75% of voting membership.
Adds a requirement that the dues set by the EC shall include $25 per member which will be allocated to Pro Bono Legal Services to provide a consistent source of funding.
Adds a provision that Clerk of Court is an ex officio member.

Adds provision allowing the President-Elect, a minimum number of members of the EC, and/or a minimum number of petitioning members of the general membership to call a special meeting of the EC meeting or general meeting of the membership in lieu of the President, if the President is unavailable, unable or unwilling to participate in the vote to call a Special meeting..

Adds requirement that Present-Elect must have served at least one term on the EC

Deletes some mandatory committees (such as committee on grievances) and adds a Nominating Committee, a Courthouse Committee and a Petigru Award Committee.

Adds a provision staggering the membership on the EC so that the terms run for two years, with one-half of the positions expiring each year. Terms are limited to two consecutive periods of service. Also adds a provision requiring advance notice of open positions on the EC to the membership at large.
